Eco-Design through durability
Training that starts with a screwdriver in hand
Training that starts with a screwdriver in hand. The current momentum: growing demand for eco-friendly products, climate emergency and regulatory requirements are driving companies to eco-design their products. Durability, which implies reliability and repairability, is one of the key drivers of eco-design. To help you integrate eco-design into your company’s multi-disciplinary processes, we offer a training that enables you to understand and assimilate the links between eco-design and durability through practical experience. This ‘ACTIVE’ training alternates between theory, practical application and group discussion to ensure effective knowledge acquisition and consolidation.
Goals
- Integrate eco-design into your company’s multi-disciplinary processes
- Master the product life cycle approach
- Identify and prioritise eco-design actions for product durability
Program
DISCOVERY OF THE LIFE CYCLE APPROACH AND PRODUCT IMMERSION
- Understand the context of eco-design and the business, regulatory and environmental challenges
- Understand durability and its two pillars: repairability and reliability
- Integrate the theoretical foundations of the Life Cycle Assessment method
- Conduct a simplified Life Cycle Assessment of a stick vacuum cleaner in Ecodesign Studio
- Understand how to manage repairability and integrate key concepts related to durability
- Disassemble and perform a basic exploration of the reference product: a battery-powered stick vacuum cleaner
IDENTIFYING AND PRIORITISING SOLUTIONS
- Understanding how to manage repairability and integrate key concepts related to durability
- Analysing failure modes and criticality
- Using scoring tools dedicated to repairability and reliability
- Making eco-design trade-offs (creativity workshop and variable simulation)
- Evaluate eco-design solutions: presentation of projects, solution challenges and trade-off concepts
- Understand the complementarity between durability and eco-design: inspiring examples and key success factors
The advantages of the training
- Workshops and practical exercises using eco-design and sustainability tools and methodologies
- Modelling of the environmental impacts of the core product prepared in the ECODESIGN STUDIO eco-design SAAS software, made available free of charge to participants
- Modelling of reliability and repairability scores, pillars of durability, using grids developed by ETHIKIS for the LONGTIME label
